# Troubleshoot Anilife

> Resolve common installation, update, playback, account, and notification problems before sending a focused Anilife bug report.

Start with the smallest check that matches the symptom, then collect a diagnostic report if the problem is repeatable. Provider availability can change independently of the app.

## Installation or update fails

1. Confirm you selected a phone or TV APK for the correct form factor.
2. Use the universal APK when the CPU architecture is unknown.
3. Check free storage and allow installation from the browser or file manager that opened the APK.
4. Run **Settings → App → Check for updates** again.
5. Do not uninstall first unless you have protected local data you need.

## Playback fails

1. Try another server for the same episode.
2. Check whether other episodes and titles play.
3. Retry after changing networks or restarting the device.
4. Record the error code shown by Anilife.
5. Export diagnostics soon after the failure.

A failure limited to one source is usually different from a device-wide playback failure. Include that distinction in a report.

## Account or sync fails

Confirm the intended service is still shown as connected in **Settings → Accounts & sync**. Signing in to AniList or MyAnimeList switches the active list service. Retry the action after reconnecting only if the existing session is reported as expired.

## Get support

Search the [open issues](https://github.com/anilifecommunity/android-and-tv/issues) for the device, provider, or error code. If the problem is new, use the [bug report form](https://github.com/anilifecommunity/android-and-tv/issues/new?template=bug_report.yml) and include:

* Anilife version and build number
* device model and Android or Fire OS version
* phone/tablet or TV APK name
* exact steps and expected result
* whether one provider or every provider is affected
* a redacted diagnostic ZIP, if you choose to share one
